    The FightingForFamilies news conference on March 2 announced the Economic Security Act of 2017.  

    Democrats are pushing for progressive policy for working people. HB238 calls for raising the minimum wage and tipped minimum wage, mandating equal pay for equal work, requiring paid sick and medical leave, ending wage theft, banning the box, repealing public employee collective bargaining restrictions, and reinstating the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Care Tax Credits.

    January Organizing Meeting

    The OCDP will be holding a follow-up organizing meeting on Sunday, January 29, 2017 from 4pm to 6pm at Cedar Ridge High School (1125 New Grady Brown School Road, Hillsborough) in the auditorium.

    Topics will include:

    • Overview of Orange County and North Carolina Data/Election Results
    • Action Plans for Out of County Organizing
    • Breakout groups
    • Next Steps for Voter Registration and Education, Community Outreach, Messaging, and Social Media

    PLEASE NOTE:

    There will be a lot of people at this event. If you are planning to meet up with a group, it is recommended that you agree on a meet-up location prior to Saturday. There will be many friendly volunteers, security, etc. but please take responsibility for keeping your group together.
